Company Biography

TRC Consultants has been in the petroleum engineering business since 1986. In 1996, TRC was incorporated as a limited liability corporation in the state of Texas with the name TRC Consultants, L.C. During 1986, TRC was solely a contract petroleum engineering firm specializing in reserve evaluations. Specifically, TRC developed bank reserve reports and consulted on oil and gas property acquisitions. To facilitate our work, TRC developed in-house engineering software integrating decline-curve analysis, economics, and database management. Although TRC originated to perform mostly contract reserve evaluations, petroleum engineering software development, sales, and support has become our main business focus. Many of the features we have developed in PHDWin™ are the result of our own engineering needs as well as recommendations from our many users.

Development of PHDWin was begun in August 1995. Initial commercial release of PHDWin was on August 1, 1997. PHDWin is a complete rewrite of our initial DOS system aimed at the Windows™ platform. Though significantly more difficult, the design of PHDWin was completely re-engineered to take full advantage of:

• State-of-the-art Windows development systems
• State-of-the-art database systems
• Our extensive experience acquired from the development and support of our DOS system

TRC markets its integrated decline curve, material balance, economic, and database software under the names PHD™ and PHDWin. The PHD product was our first system and was developed in the DOS environment. Eventually, it was rewritten for commercial distribution. This was followed by another product called PhdLite, which was a stripped down version of PHD™. Neither of these systems are still available and no further development is anticipated because of the obsolesce of the DOS platform. The first versions of PHDDos™ were shipped in September of 93. This product no longer meets the requirements of most users and is not promoted.

PHDWin is currently installed on over 1200 workstations in over 646 companies or state agencies. PHDWin is used extensively for oil and gas property evaluations and appraisals by both private consultants and governmental agencies. TRC Consultants, LC has licensed workstations to companies like DeGolyer & MacNaughton; Ryder Scott Company; Huddleston & Co.; Continental Resources; Exxon Company, USA; CDX Gas, LLC; Collarini Engineering; La Roche Petroleum Consultants, Ltd.; HiCon Gas Production, Inc.; Bommer Engineering Co.; and Palmer Petroleum, Inc.
